Laboratory Introduction

Established in 1982, the Association's Research, Development and Testing Laboratory carries out inspection and testing of paints and coatings. It is a CNS Mark recognized laboratory of the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI), MOEA (recognition no. CNS-RL-00005), and has for many years carried out BSMI inspection of CNS-marked paint and coating products. Since 2012 it has also been recognized by the BSMI as a designated laboratory for paint products subject to mandatory inspection (recognition no. SL3-JN-N-0006), testing coating products under the BSMI's mandatory inspection scheme.

In November 2005 the laboratory was accredited by the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) as a testing laboratory under ISO/IEC 17025, an accreditation it has held ever since (accreditation no. 1376). Its accreditation covers more than one hundred test items for paint and coating products.
